Pastor Azaria Mugizi, the lead pastor of Ishongororo Pentecostal Church in Western Uganda, recognized the urgent need for education in a community where most families lived on less than $3 USD per day. To help lift the community out of poverty and ignorance, he and his team established a school in 1994, starting humbly in rented buildings.

In response to the community’s pressing need for education, the ministry established a school in 1994 with the vision of breaking the cycle of poverty and ignorance. What began in rented buildings has steadily grown, and by 1996 the school was able to acquire land and put up temporary classrooms
Today, Parental Care Memorial School Primary offers full primary education from nursery to primary seven, currently serving over 150 students, many of whom are orphans and vulnerable children. The school is committed to providing quality education that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter future, reflecting the ministry’s holistic approach to community transformation through education.
To further empower the community beyond formal schooling, the ministry established a vocational training program aimed at equipping young people and vulnerable groups with practical, income-generating skills. The initiative began with the Parental Care Workshop, where tailoring and related skills are taught to provide learners with opportunities for self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Though still operating in rented facilities, this vocational program reflects the ministry’s commitment to breaking cycles of poverty by offering hands-on training that prepares individuals for real-world employment and entrepreneurship.
